seattlematrix.org is one of the many independent Mastodon servers you can use to participate in the fediverse.
The team at https://SeattleMatrix.org wanted to offer a safe online space for all to participate in the Fediverse from the Seattle/PNW Region. NOTE: Regional residency not required.

@mosseri just announced that #Threads users can finally follow fediverse accounts. Which means you can now reach 200M people from your Mastodon account without ever using Threads yourself. True decentralization happens on the fediverse!

Internet Rando

@Gargron I'm sure all this means is Meta can now scrape the fedi for their AI to steal^H^H^H^H^Htrain huh..

@mousey @Gargron what was stopping them from doing that already?

@Mrfunkedude

Nothing really

Might do their AI some good to be exposed to quality discourse 😄

My take is, since fedi is truely decentralized, not everyone links to everyone else..

bluesky is decentralized centralization. so their AI scrapers only need their one node.

Threads interacting with activitypub doesn't "centralize" fedi, but does mean everyfedi-that-shows-up-in-threads is food for the beast.

Because Meta is already massive, their fedi-"reach" across instances could be greater than it would if they were random.mastodon-server.com or whatever.
